Walk north on the Piazza del Duomo then turn left onto Via Giuseppe Libertini. The Basilica di San Giovanni Battista del Rosario will be on the left after 350 metres.

Basilica di San Giovanni Battista del Rosario

The Basilica of Saint John the Baptist at the Rosary is one of the oldest churches in Lecce. It was designed by Giuseppe Zimbalo and built between 1691 and 1728. The stunning façade has a large portal over which rests a tympanum with the coats of arms of the Dominicans and a statue of San Domenico. Two huge spiral fluted columns stand on either side of the portal reaching up to the balustrade that divides the two levels. On each side of the columns are the statues of Saint John the Baptist and Saint Francis.
